(37)¡¡Numerical Computation on Acoustic Characteristics of 3D Vocal-tract Models
¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡Proc. CREST Workshop on Speech Motor Control and Modeling,p.34,2001-9

¡¡We have already applied FEM (Finite Element Method) to the vocal tracts, which showed 3D effects such as lower shifts of formant frequencies or an appearance of zeros. Although the FEM is an effective way to analyze cavities in complex shape, it requires a large amount of time not only for the computation itself, but also for the creation of finite element meshes. Therefore, it is needed to construct a simplified 3D model in order to explore the vocal tract acoustics that can not be represented by the traditional 1D model. In this presentation, first the results of analyses by FEM are presented, and then a new method to compute the acoustic field for the simplified 3D vocal tract model is proposed. By using the simplified 3D model, faster computation and evaluation for a large number of the vocal tracts can be performed. However, possible artifacts resulting from the use of the rectangular sections should be investigated.
