In some fibrous media such as wood, paper and muscle, degree and direction
of fibrousness are important properties. The feasibility of detecting those
properties by means of enhanced backscattering is examined experimentally
using several media with different fibrousness, as well as by computer simulations
on the assumption of anisotropic scattering process. The results show that
the fibrousness of a medium is reflected on the elongated form of the coherent
peak, provided the scattering has highly directional anisotropy due to the
    fibrousness.
