　 Laser-light scattering by rough surfaces is investigated in computer simulation by means of MATLAB which is a computer language of technical computing. The mathematical model based on the diffraction theory of light is used and connected with the 2D FFT algorithm. The simulation study is performed for several kinds of rough surface models on which a Gaussian beam from a laser is illuminated. The intensity distribution of the scattered optical field in the Fraunhofer diffraction is analyzed for both specular and diffused components of scattered light.
